To me a garden is a magnificent oasis full of treats for the home; flowers for a vase, vegetables and fruit for the kitchen and natural materials for garden craft projects. My favourite time is pottering with a cup tea pondering tasks, what to pick or sow. A garden is always changing, developing and giving, it’s your own beautiful, peaceful, productive, haven.
I’m a Mum to three boys and an Italian Spinone dog. A passionate gardener who believes that spending a small amount of time, effort and money on our gardens can make a significant impact to the quality of our lives. Gardening should be accessible, achievable and affordable and offer a variety of rewards, including: a sanctuary to relax in, a fulfilling hobby, a place to entertain, somewhere for children to play and explore the outdoors, a source of healing therapy, somewhere for wildlife to flourish and a harvest of food, flowers and craft.
Over the last 20 years I’ve learnt through trial and error, undulating shelves of books, nattering with friends and BBC’s Gardeners World. This blog is the story of my garden, bringing cut flowers into our home, adding a beautiful fragrant dimension to its interiors; letting home grown seasonal fruit and vegetables determine our family’s meals; and decorating our garden and home with homegrown crafts.
